This is Lucius, Protector of the Planet Marmalade (the word “marmalade” means something entirely different on his planet than it does ours, and is actually a very noble, important word that most species would be delighted to have as their planet's name). Lucius does a pretty decent job of being Protector of the Planet, mostly because his position as Protector requires way more paperwork than one would suspect and only the occasional confrontation. In fact, “Protector of the Planet” is really more of hybrid field/office job that requires taking college courses towards a specialized degree, followed by a lengthy interview with a bunch of government officials, and finally an exam that involves matching columns of numbers against one another, sort of like the civil service test they make you take when you apply to work at the Post Office on our planet. But the fact that Lucius has a pleasant personality, fantastic handwriting, and above-average reading comprehension skills shot his application to the top of the interviewee pile, convincing the Council that there really was no better squirrel for the position of Protector of the Planet than Lucius.
