This is Exhibit 257 in your gallery catalog. 257 is a mixed media piece that is part performance art—in that a live squirrel, unharmed, is being employed in the production of the piece—and subjective, in that depending on where in the exhibit the squirrel is standing, what position the squirrel is standing in, whether or not the squirrel is actually eating nuts, as well as how many nuts have been consumed by the squirrel, a different meaning is imparted to the entire piece. In fact, several tags have been prepared for this exhibit to reflect the changing state of the squirrel throughout the day, including one that doesn’t mention nuts at all.
